What's in a Name?
"What does 10n mean, and how do you pronounce it?"
Firstly, it is pronounced 'ten n', as in the number 10 to the power of 'n' - if you remember your days of
high-school math, which is where this all started…
The origin of 10n Inc started 40 years ago with a Math teacher in Hamilton. A student with the last name
of 'Ion' was in his class, and when teaching exponential mathematics, the similarity between '10 to the
nth power' and the student's last name became apparent. 40 years later, when a corporation was being
formed, the next generation of Ion was looking for a name which captured the nature of the business
that he was starting. After being told the story of the math teacher, the concept stuck - 10n is a
number equal to an infinite amount, expressed cleanly and efficiently. Just the way marketing and
electronic communications should be. This captured the essence of what this new business should
strive towards: infinite goals expressed in the cleanest, simple design possible. Maximum results
with the most usable expression.
